Privacy screen or unconventional climbing aid DIY

It’s been haunted in my head for a long time, a privacy screen that you don’t necessarily look at and a climbing aid in one. Ever since I’ve seen it in a garden and found it to be the perfect solution to my problem, I’ve been thinking about the best way to do it.

My privets, which I planted last year as a privacy screen to the ugly tomato house in the neighbor’s garden, were visibly withering. They probably just lack the light and the space behind my roses. So another solution had to be found…. I also wanted to reach a certain height behind the roses as a background, because the robber barons and also the Ghyslaine de Feligonde are already assuming more lush proportions. A white clematis should grow up on it…. I had already seen them at the Gaissmayer perennial nursery and immediately fell in love with these star flowers. I have already planted it on the pergola, now it should bloom a second time in my garden ♥

Self-made privacy screen or climbing aid from hazel branches

But I digress… .. my personal climbing aid project…. rather – wall, was not that easy to implement. Thank goodness our neighbor gave me the tip about the hazel branches. (Nicole, farmers own forest;)) that is not that extraordinary … laugh. ) Hazel have the straight branches needed. Don’t ask how I look after this forest action! Totally scratched by blackberries, stung by mosquitoes…. Woman has to go to the forest in her skirt;)) But it was worth it! …. The next time, if there is one, I’ll go to cut hazel branches with long trousers and a long sweater….

For a 2m wall you need:

2 wooden strips 2m long

40 – 50 branches of hazel

Screws

as well as 2 wooden stakes for fastening

Arrange the branches on the ledges and screw them tight…. be careful, the finished piece is quite heavy!

Ithink it’s really good in our garden ♥…. and best of all: you can hardly see the tomato house from the terrace! Once it’s overgrown … just perfect!!

As a test, I hung up my nest box, which my friend from the Allgäu made for me many years ago. Maybe it serves its actual purpose here and not just as a decoration … laugh
