Our family recently took on a DIY project. A new fire pit – and we LOVE it!

It was inexpensive, easy, and everyone pitched in to help. The materials are readily available at your local big box home improvement stores.

We used twenty five 12 inch patio pavers as a base. We set it up in five rows of five.

Easy!

Next, my husband set up the first layer of cinder blocks. He rotated a few to allow for proper air intake at the bottom.

Then we just built it up another layer (twenty cinder blocks total for this project)

We topped the entire structure with 10 gray bricks. <— Great job for the kiddos 😉 We chose not to use any mortar or concrete so that we can easily swap out any cinder blocks if needed. Also, it is incredibly easy to remove a few blocks from the front to put on the back side when fall comes and we’ll really want the heat from the fire. Having the back built up a little higher than the front allows for the heat to pour out to keep everyone nice and toasty. SUCCESS!

We’ve used the fire pit a bunch of times with family and friends.

It’s been a great addition to our outdoor space!

NOTE:

** This project can be done for much less if you search Craigslist or online yard sales – so many people list patio pavers and cinder blocks for FREE!!!!

Do you have a fire pit? Planning to build one soon? Leave a comment and we’ll chat!
