DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced):

To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 156 stitches) and divide by the number of decreases to be made (e.g. 8) = 19.5.

In this example knit tog approx. Every 18th and 19th stitch and every 19th and 20th stitch alternately.

PULLUNDER – SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK:

The piece is worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. From the armholes, the front and back are knitted individually back and forth. Finally, the neck and sleeves are knitted in the round.

HULL:

Cast on: 156-172-184-200-220-240 stitches on circular needle size 4.5 mm with Air. Knit 1 round. Knit in the rib pattern (= knit 2 / purl 2) until the rib pattern is approx. 3 cm long.

Switch to circular needle size 5 mm, work in stocking stitch and decrease 8 stitches evenly on the first round = 148-164-176-192-212-232 stitches – read DECREASE TIP.

Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round and insert 1 marker after the next 74-82-88-96-106-116 stitches. Carry the markers with you when you continue working, they will be needed a little later when binding off for the armholes.

Work in stocking stitch until the piece measures 28-29-30-33-34-35 cm from the cast-on edge.

NOTE THE KNITTING TENSION!

On the next round bind off for the armholes, start 3-3-3-4-4-4 stitches before the first marker and bind off 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (the marker is in the middle between These stitches), work as before until there are 3-3-3-4-4-4 stitches left before the next marker, cast off the next 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (the marker is in the middle between these stitches) and work the round to the end.
