The coldest season of the year is upon us! It’s time to hunker down with a special knitting project just for you. One of these 5 fabulous knitted sweater patterns might be just the thing. Bonus, all the patterns are free.
Knit Turtleneck Cardigan
This stylish combination of a cardigan and turtleneck is fabulous! This pretty knit accessory is the perfect addition to chase the chills and make a statement this season. You can find the pattern here, but be warned, I couldn’t download the PDF file for some reason. But, the pattern is written out for you on the site. You may find it easier to cut and paste into a word document if you need to print out the pattern.
I’m always amazed by how a simple garter stitch can add such great details to a handknitted sweater. This simple top-down circular yoke cardigan features a yoke with garter stitch transitioning to stockinette in the body. The pattern is here.
Classic Aran Pullover
Atextured pattern sandwiched between two cable patterns make up this gorgeous Aran style pullover sweater. The pattern includes sizes X-small through 2x so you are sure to find a perfect fit. Take the time to check your gauge on this one! No one wants to put so much time and effort into such a beautiful finished project only to find it doesn’t fit as you expected. (I have learned to love gauge swatches!) The pattern is here.
Top Down V-Neck Pullover
A very basic top-down raglan with almost no seaming required. Includes sizing/shaping for both men and women, and (despite its name) a crew-neck variation as well. It is designed to be a casual, loose fit, but could easily be made more fitted by increasing the waist shaping rows and choosing a size that fits more closely. The neck trim can also be left off for a more open v-neck. The pattern is here.
Morning Mist Sweater
Another lovely example of how much texture and pop a simple garter stitch can add to a finished sweater. It’s worked in-the-round for those of you who rather shoot yourself in the foot than hop on the side seam bandwagon;-) The pattern is here.
I hope you found one of these free knitted sweater patterns inspirational enough to pick up your needles and cast one on! Thanks for stopping by the blog, see you again soon.
